Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club

Hotel Information: Designed as a contemporary timeshare, Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club rents suites in owners' absences. Families and couples come for casual, relaxing holidays, making use of a casino, a children’s club, a health club, and restaurants to which they have access at a neighboring companion property, Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino.

Amenity highlights: A lagoon-style pool bordered by a 75-foot-wide, 15-foot-high pink-and-gray rock formation includes a swim-up bar. Atop the rock formation is a secluded free-form spa tub that can accommodate up to 25 people. The pool complex's sundeck includes a 15-foot-diameter children's pool. The resort's frontage on Palm Beach comprises a 100-yard-wide, 75-yard-deep stretch and includes thatched shades.

Insider tip: Little used in daylight, two freestanding two-person hammocks, one by the pool and the other by the beach, become prime stargazing spots after dark.

Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club offers 218 one- and two-bedroom guest suites in a six-story, U-shaped building around a garden courtyard. Suites include ground-floor terraces or upper-floor balconies and feature two-person spa tubs in master bedrooms. Suites also include kitchens with four-burner ranges, microwave ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, blenders, toasters, cookware, glasses and dishes, and three-stool breakfast bars.

Decor features soft tropical colors, and furnishings include six-chair dining sets and upholstered chairs with ottomans. Living/dining rooms have tile floors. Bedrooms are carpeted. Ceiling fans provide a cooling alternative to suites' air conditioning. Each suite includes two televisions and either a VCR or DVD player.

Welcome amenities include coffee, sugar, and laundry detergent.
